Thread Cutting Screws have a blunt point and tapered starting threads. Cutting flutes at the tip act like a tap to create machine screw mating threads in a pre-drilled or punched hole as they are installed. They can be removed and reinserted or replaced by a machine screw of the same diameter and number of threads per inch. Thread Cutting Screws create chips during the thread cutting process. If chips are undesirable, considering using a thread forming or thread rolling screw instead, both of which do not create chips. For Hex Washer, Pan and Round heads, measure length from under the head. Length includes head height for Flat Head.
