Metric Nylon Insert Lock Nuts

Metric Nylon Insert Lock Nuts rely upon an attached undersized nylon washer as the locking element, which requires wrenching to install and remove the nut. Although the washer seals against gas and moisture, it can't tolerate certain chemicals or temperature extremes. Still, the prevailing torque it provides resists rotation and its resiliency allows for reuse a limited number of times. Machine screw threads, either coarse or fine, Class 6 to 10 steel and stainless steel, and zinc plated are available. It is unlikely that thread galling will occur with steel, but it may occur with stainless steel nuts. They are also known as Nylock Nuts and Stop Nuts.
