Metric Rings
Metric External Rings include External Retaining Rings and External E-Type Circlips. External Retaining Rings are designed for shafts so they are installed axially (in-line) into a shaft groove to form a removable shoulder capable of withstanding high thrust loads. Circlips resemble the letter "E" and are installed radially (sideways) in grooves. However, since Circlips contact the shaft at only three points, endurance is limited to low thrust loads.
Metric Internal Rings differ from External Rings because they are axially inserted in housings and bores. Like External Rings, Internal Retaining Rings create a non-permanent shoulder when seated in a machined groove that can tolerate high thrust loads.
